web design cms hosting

What is CMS?

A content management system or CMS supports the creation, management, distribution, publishing, and discovery of information on the web or in any form. Programming software such as Flex or Drupal allows clients to manage the content of their site through an administrative control panel. These sites are usually expensive and not needed for smaller web sites with few changes. Smaller sites can take advantage of cms with an administrative control panel for changing content by other open source options. Two of the most popular open source content management systems for the web is Word Press and Joomla. Knowing the type of site can save you time and money. I offer free consultations to head you in the right direction.

Hosting

I believe the client should have exclusive control of their domain name and hosting. Domain harvesters buy popular domain names and then hold you hostage. I suggest you purchase your domain name and hosting through several reliable, economical and long standing hosting companies such as GoDaddy.com, BlueHost.com, or HostGator.com. I am always available for consultation on your purchase. You must remember that these hosts are in business to make money and often times the salesperson is trying to sell products that are just not needed for a start up web site. I also suggest keeping your domain name and hosting in one account. I can help if you need to change your domain name to another hosting account or need to purchase a domain name and hosting.
